Anti-Stress Foods: Feed Your Body, Brain and Spirit!

Ladies:

While trying to juggle the many aspects of our lives we are often deluged with endless commitments that never seem to end. This way of living, day in and day out, can too easily lead to feeling chronic stress, burnout, and failure to thrive.

I see it in my practice all of the time, and I am committed to making sure my clients address this stress on many levels.

As we know, I’m a stress-busting coach - or at least trying my level best to help my women heal and thrive. The stress levels that women are walking around with is truly off the charts! Stress damages not only our bodies and imbalances our brains, but it squashes our spirits too.

Stress causes us to reach for sugary comfort foods.

Very often, we reach for these foods because doing so pulls our blood sugars up quickly, and that may feel good for a few minutes until it doesn’t. When we feel badly about ourselves our moods are impacted and we feel destabilized.

Fortunately, there are everyday foods that make us feel better, happier, and less stressed.

  1. Salmon 🐟: High in omega-3 fatty acids. This fat is AMAZING for the brain and nervous system, helping us to feel calm and satiated while maintaining our blood sugar levels.

  2. Avocados 🥑: The monounsaturated fats in avocados is used for energy in your body and not stored as fat. There are tons of nutrients, like B vitamins for your nervous system. These help to maintain your blood sugars.

3. Nuts 🥜: Just a small handful of these reduce anxiety, have a lot of vitamins,
helps your nervous system and prevents you from over-eating.

4. Dark chocolate 🍫: No, not the sugary milk chocolate, but a small amount of
high quality dark chocolate has something in it called anandamide - which
boosts your mood. There is magnesium in dark chocolate too, which is calming.
There are also delicious sugar-free options, too!

5. Oatmeal 🥣: This won’t spike your blood sugars because it is a complex carb
and it helps your brain release serotonin, the feel food hormone!

So, the next time you feel stressed, reach for one of these options instead! Your body, brain and spirit will love you for it!

To your sublime health!

Much Love,
Jen
