Why Healthy Fats are Critical!

Ladies,

Surprise! Eating healthy fat is good! AND it helps us release weight!

Through all of the trends of the past decade, knowing what and when to eat has become a confusing task.

“I should eat raw… well, maybe that’s not the best for me. Maybe Paleo? No. Wait, I should definitely start eating Ketogenic. And we should all be intermittent fasting, right?”

Ahhhh, but some things have survived the test of time! ⏰The Mediterranean diet has fats as a central staple.

At this point, most of you are pretty clear on staying away from trans fats (the kind in prepackaged food and processed sweets, fried food, and margarine, for example).

But I have found that most of my clients don’t clearly understand how critical it is to eat more fats, and by this, I mean a healthy amount of unsaturated fats in the form of olive oil, wild fish (salmon being my top choice), nuts, seeds, avocado oil, avocados, and eggs. 🥑

Here are some of the reasons why:

➡️ Healthy fats have been shown to increase metabolic rate. In fact, popular low-fat diets really slow your metabolic rate and make it hard to release weight.

➡️ Eating more fats decreases brain fog. To improve brain health eat more nuts or an avocado (omega 3’s and 6’s). ☁️

➡️ Fat helps your body stay warm. Do you feel cold often even when it is warm? This can be a tell-tale sign of dietary fat deprivation.

➡️ Fats help keep your reproductive system healthy. Fat is critical for keeping your hormones balanced.

➡️ Fat helps you to absorb nutrients. Certain vitamins are fat-soluble, meaning, dietary fats are necessary in order to fully absorb them through digestion.

➡️ Fat lowers cholesterol and blood pressure and improves heart health. Eating a larger amount of unsaturated fat at meals lowers the bad cholesterol in our blood. Olive oil is one of the healthiest foods for blood pressure control. A moderate amount of healthy fat has been shown to reduce the likelihood of cardiac arrest.

➡️ Fats help you stave off depression. Fats can help with the production of serotonin and dopamine, both of which alter brain chemistry. 😊

➡️ Fats help you to stave off diabetes. Healthy fats help to improve insulin sensitivity, and, in turn, help to maintain better blood sugar control.

➡️ Fats can help reduce inflammation.

Truly, ladies, the list goes on and on about this critical macronutrient.

Don’t deprive yourself of the essential foods that will help you to feel and look amazing, and to finally achieve your most Sublime Health!

To your Sublime Health!

Much Love,
Jen
